Simon
The Simon game is a game that tests and trains your short-term memory.
The inventors of Simon are Ralph H. Baer & Howard J. Morrison. It was originally released as a physical game, launched in 1978.
Simon is based on Atari’s arcade game Touch Me, which was released in 1974.
The implementation on our website was developed by Neave.
On the game screen there are four colored buttons: red, green, yellow and blue. Each button has a sound associated with it.
The objective of the game is straightforward. Players must observe and remember a sequence of highlighted buttons (and their sounds) produced by the game and then repeat that sequence accurately.
At the start, only one colored button lights up. After the player correctly repeats the sequence, one button is added to the sequence. The sequences become longer and more complex, challenging the player's memory and concentration.
If a player makes a mistake, the game ends immediately.
The game is named after the classic children’s game Simon Says. This is a game for three or more players in which one person, designated as “Simon”, gives command to the other players. Only if a command starts with “Simon Says”, it should be followed. If a player follows a command that wasn’t preceded by “Simon Says”, they are out of the game.
Simon can be played in all modern browsers, on all device types (desktop, tablet, mobile), and on all operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, ...).
